The British Are Coming! La Invasion Britanica en Nueva York

En dos semanas unas amistades de los blogs que viven en Gran Bretaña vienen de visita por primera vez a Estados Unidos. Piensan estar unos dias en Nueva York y luego visitaran Los Angeles California. Si los planes se logran, les voy a servir de guia en la gran manzana. Uno de los primeros sitios que desean visitar es la Estatua de la Libertad, que por cierto es uno de mis sitios favoritos. Especialmente la isla de Ellis Island que es el lugar por donde entraron los immigrantes la primera vez que llegaron a America al principio del siglo pasado.

Una de las cosas que mas me fascina de participar en los blogs, es el hecho de intercambiar ideas con personas de diferentes del mundo. Gracias a ello he podido viajar y asistir a lo que por aca llaman "meets and greets", conocer en persona a blogueros de otros paises. De hecho, he estado en Amsterdam/Holanda, Arizona, Nueva York, Vermont, California, Ohio y Puerto Rico asistiendo a convenciones de blogueros. Es una gran satisfaccion finalmente poder compartir en persona con los blogueros que uno intercambia ideas todos los dias en estas paginas.

Si alguno de ustedes quiere unirse a Team America World Police en Nueva York para combatir la invasion Britanica el fin de semana de junio 20, todavia hay tiempo para unirse a nosotros, jaja

A group of blog friends from the United Kingdom will be visiting this summer the United States of America for their first time ever. I offered to be their tour guide in the Big Apple. Our first stop is one of my favorite places, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. As you are aware, at the beginning of last century Ellis Island in New York was the gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States. A visit to to Ellis Island Museum is a must for anyone visiting New York City.

Interacting in the blogs have allowed me to meet folks from all over the world. In 2006 I was thrilled to visit the Ann Frank Museum in Amsterdam/Holland when I attended a European blogger's convention. And in the past I've attended quite a few blog meet and greets all over the states. So becoming a blogger five years ago has been a blessing. Not only is my free therapy, it also allows me to travel and meet in person some of the folks I interact with on a regular basis.

Even for a non-American, visiting Ellis Island was a profound experience.
I recall one immigrant telling that he stocked up on food and hit a westbound train - 48 hours later he got off in a town where he started work as a ranch hand.
